Just moved to the area recently and never got a chance over the winter to try either lake. I have summer fished both years ago but I am die hard for the hard water. Any operators on either lake? Is the ice fishing worth it on either lake? Again I am thinking about next season.

thanks in advance

Ok with 17 views and no responses maybe I need to retry. I have 15+ years on Lady Simcoe With the price of fuel and the distance to travel I am not sure if my commitment to the lake can be kept. If I were to move my ice fishing operations to either Cameron or Sturgeon would people use an outfitter? Are there currently any hut rentals available on either lake? Is the ice fishing good enough that people actually want to fish here?

I am not aware of any operators on either lake. I have limited ice fishing experience on the lakes but have heard that fishing is hit and miss. It is only open for panfish and has only been open a few years.

I tried ice fishing sturgeon lake this past season and only caught a little 29'' muskie. Tried a few different spots in both shallow and deep water.

Thanks so far I know that it is only a pan fish area. Thorahguy there is no patience in this game it would be a fairly major decision so I need to start asking early. 90% of the customers on simcoe these days are only after panfish anyway. I could easily put on 60+ Miles per day running customers on simcoe. With the lake being 40 minutes from my new house I am considering moving to one of the closer lakes so any input over the next few months would be great I will need to make a decision over the summer aswell because there are deals that will need to be cut with the city of kawartha lakes for access point use etc etc so there is a lot of planning involved and I appreciate any and all input

Hard and soft water fished both, sturgeon more hard water but I usually go to beaverton I have managed some perch on sturgeon talked to others who get cheaply but i think youd have a hard time getting consistently on fish
