Hi I'm looking for recommendations on a good lodge to visit in the Kawartha's. A friend and I are taking our 12 year old sons on a fishing trip and hope to provide them with lots of action and plenty of memories. We will wait for bass season to open, so sometime in early July likely. We will need a place that rents boats large enough for all 4, I was thinking maybe a pontoon. Neither of us have been in the Kawartha's for almost 20 years, so we are not sure which lakes we should be concentrating on.

I have never done it and someone might be able to add to my comment but I think renting a house boat might be a great idea. I use to see them all the time when we fished Sturgeon. Just something to consider if you're comfortable with it.

Too many great locations to post, where are you travelling from? how long do you feel like travelling? Rice lake has many locations to rent boats and cottages at pretty good rates, the lake has a variety of fish you can catch in all types of weather. Islands, nice weed lines and rock transition areas, slop, docks, rivers. One of my favourite places to fish and not that long of a drive from Toronto. The people that I have met over the years were very helpful and friendly. The east side has lots of great places to rent boats and cottages and the cool thing is, that you don't need to travel that far on the lake to catch fish. Great crappie fishing, many bass spots and the walleye seem to be every where.

Good Luck

My son and I have stayed on most of the lakes in the Kawarthas most places rent boats not sure about the pontoon boats . What are you fishing for . I helped a couple guys with 4 kids last year who fished Sturgeon Lake in a pontoon they had a great time . All the kids caught fish and they caught several different kind from crappies , Bass , Walleye and even caught a couple Muskies . Here is some of the places you can check around Bobcaygeon hope it helps . http://www.bobcaygeon.org/cottages.html
