Hi my name is Paul, been fishing Rice for a long long time, I Guess you can figure I'm not a young sprout. I've always had good luck on bass mostly in the areas around the old river mouth, Jubilee point and around the trestle. This year for the first time in 20 years we are going to to be staying in Gores Landing. How is the bass fishing in that area? We only rent a 14' boat so travelling long distances is not really an option. Not looking for any specific locations, just kind a comparison to the areas we usually fish.
I live in Oakville, and fish several times a year on Rice and also the creeks around oakville. Any input would be appreciated, and I am glad to joined this forum, seems like a good bunch of folks.
Cheers
P.s. I've been fishing for over 50 years, man that sounds like a long time. Paul

I usually fish around the southern tips of the three islands out from Gores. I launch from Harris Boatworks - great launch. Can get bass, walleye, crappie and rock bass.
many boats find deep spots (relatively deep) for the walleye.
Or sometimes go over to Harwood - to fish the tracks. Not too far. Can get some good bass amongst the structure.
even the mouth of the Otonobe across the lake is not too far.

Thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate it. I'll tell a little story if you will indulge me. In 1975 one of the first real bass tourneys was held on Rice, Al Linder even showed up. I thought I was a pretty decent fisherman, so I talked a friend into entering this tourney with me. Being boatless, we called around and lo and behold Harris boat works had a boat for us and it turned out to be a new fangled bass boat, not like today's rigs, but pretty awesome. The tournament blast off was at Hiawatha, we blasted off full of confidence and little else, only to return to the skunk dock both days. Embarrassed yes but it was a lesson learned, I've learned a lot about Rice since those days and could probably hold my own in any tourney there now. Oh yes Al Linder put a hurting on all of the field, it wasn't even close. Just wanted to share.
