Hi all! new member here. I moved here 5 years ago from Tennessee. My wife is a Peterborough girl. I have finally been able to purchase my first boat , a 2013 lowe fm fishing machine with a 60 hp merc. I have never owned one before but always had access to one thru friends back in Tenn. I would appreciate any info on chemong, pigeon, sturgeon and rice lakes. such as maps, hot spots and lures (colors, size, etc) dangerous areas ( I have been told most lakes around are shallow and rocky) would hate to destroy a lower unit on a stump or a rock! Thanks in advance for any info
Rob

welcome Rob

my best advice would be to purchase a fish finder with mapping on it that will warn you of dangerous areas. lots of members on here that can help you much better then i could for as to which ones are the best and cheapest.

other then that i would say just take it slow until you get to know the area.
any new lake i go on i use my trolling motor for the first bit and then motor back when i'm more comfortable.

as for hot spots... don't know if i can give those up but i will say this much weeds are your friends in the Kawartha's not your enemy.

take care and see you at the tournament

Matt

Putaforkinya is right, a good fishfinder with a GPS built in, and a Navionics chip. I personally use Humminbird. There's a link somewhere here in the forum for a web app from Navionics, so you can study a lake from your living room. When I find directions to the link, I'll give you a shout.

Hi Rob
What are you fishing for I can help you some with Muskies on all the lakes you mentioned . There is a site called nationalprostaff.com if you join it they have a maps tab of navonics maps you can zoom in on the lake you want and it shows good details . I have the chip for my GPS and these maps are the same . You are located in a great area lots of lakes to fish . Welcome to the site .
