Went to visit my dad on Buckhorn and took the boat with us.
Planned to fish for crappie and sunfish a bit, then head out further to try for walleye. Because of the threatening forecast we didn't plan to stay out too long, and we were getting fish on every cast, so we just stuck to the panfish and slowly worked along the shoreline for a couple hours. Bought a bow mount during the week, so gave it the maiden voyage today. Worked out well, and was handy to be able to control it from the stern (though with family in way was sometimes hard to tell where it was pointed!). Lots of rock bass, perch, pumpkinseeds, bluegills and crappies were caught. Nice sized (but not huge) members of each species were caught. also caught a few oos bass including a big jumper. Was afraid he may have been pulled of a nest as it was a long lean looking male, so i got him back in super quick even though i really wanted to get a quick measure. Highlight of the day was hooking into a huge carp with my light action rod. Fish was easily around 20lbs. Fought him for several minutes and had him close to the boat and began to think i may actually be able to pull it off. He had other ideas though and suddenly turned towards the channel and just started running my line and eventually broke off. Still fun though!
Starting to get better at launching and loading. Don't want to be "that guy" so the faster i get good at launching the better!
