Headed to rice with Gowlunker. Weather called for showers in the am and Sun in the pm. We figured we would target walleye and crappie. Good thing cause there was a bass tournament going on and they would blow out all the bass spots. Started by trolling crankbaits in 12-15fow. I caught 3 slot walleye within an hour. While still trolling we decided to move down the lake. So I started to reel in quickly halfway back to the boat I get a bite. I knew right away it wasn't a slot size walleye. Turned out to be my pb musky a 32".

The next fours hours were uneventful. A few small bass and crappies. I was starting to feel sorry for Gowlunker as he hadn't caught anything worthy yet. That didn't last long as he had me cursing his existence soon after. He Caught this "minnow" as I call it,on a spinnerbait in about 3fow. I watched it streak out of nowhere and inhale his lure. Cool! Both muskies returned safely to the depths.
Not a quantity day but quality. Man those muskies get you going. I watched the video of my musky and I have a big smile on my face the whole way through.

Thanks guys.
Trolling crankbaits is the way I usually catch my walleyes. Only been out a couple times this year,so I haven't come up with a pattern yet. Bright and small has been working. Wally divers and flicker shads is what i use.I troll between 12-17 ft. Tried rip jigging but never caught a thing. Last year we did ok rippin. Muskies were a total fluke,so no advice on them. Good luck sat.

Actually it was our first time going out of there. We usually fish west of the otonabee to Margaret's island. The only way we've caught walleye the last two years is by trolling. We always start the day by trolling. By 9am the bite is over. Starts again around 5. I caught some at high noon once in deeper water but its not happened since. I troll the channels also. Play with colour choices until you find one they like. In three trips I've used three different lures to catch them. Throughout the day Concentrate on weed edges. Throw jigs and spinnerbaits. Hope that helps. Good luck.
