hey guys this is my 25th year going up to rice lake staying at the same resort with the whole family...we always target pickerel but they always make us work for them, we stay in roseneath and I was curious how the fishing was and what's been working as of late. We've had success using hot n tots and other chartreuse diving lures trolling around points of islands and edges of weed beds... If anyone has any info on how its been and what's working it would be greatly appreciated, I really want my 4 y/o son to hook into a nice pic lol

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Did ok trolling with chartreuse coloured cranks also. Smaller cranks seemed to work better than the bigger ones. Nothin rip jigging. Couldn't buy a bass over a pound though. In my defense, it was windy as hell and we had to hide behind islands to get away from the white caps. Good luck.

Had a great time up at rice lake, the fishing was pretty good lots of wind and over cast last week which made it ideal for some pickerel, the first fish on the first morning was a 28 incher with four more smaller ones two in the slot two released. Got one the next morning after only quick outing(kids eh) we,didn't get out,on Wednesday because of a family golf, tournt called the greater dink open and bevies consumed the next, two days were just as good as the first landing 8 more the biggest being a 22 inch and a few more in the slot , my girlfriend caught a 13.5 inch perch from the dock and another two lb smallie, my dad and I trolled a ledge and didn't still fish at all. These fish were very aggressive the last 4 pickerel we caught had the both trebles barrier in each side of the mouth just hammering from the side I'm assuming, we picked up a nice 19 inch smallie and lost another big one while trolling.
we were using chartreuse hot and tots and Wally divers , there were a few people slaying fish all week with Canadian wigglers,
we had a great time and can't wait for next, year,to do it all again I will post pictures at home because my phone won't upload them

Cool read . Glad you guys go into some fish .
I fished it Saturday . Landing three Pickerel . Biggest was at 22 inches released . Kept the other 2 . Caught 3 jumbo's and 2 crappie to mix into the fry . Lost count on how many bass I landed . Surfaces lure sucked for bass fishing . Switched over to soft plastics drop shooting, with awesome successes.
Saturday was also wind from the west . Trolling North and South over weed beds is when I landed the three .
