I'm planning on fishing Pigeon and Sturgeon this September...first time on either lake. Not asking for any locations (I enjoy the exploring aspect myself) but was wondering more about tactics. For all the walleye fanatics out there...how would you spend your day (or night) fishing for walleye on either body of water? Deep weed lines, rocky points, trolling, jigging, casting, livebait or artificials. I'm new to the Kawartha scene and trying to put together a game plan, thanks in advance.

Throw big, weedless jigs in deep weeds during the day. At after sundown/ before sunup, troll medium/deep diving jointed crank baits slowly, close to outside weed lines. Best spot is near the mouth of a creek or cove, or on a deep weedy hump/shoal.

I do my fall walleye fishing exclusively at night and all from shore. In the fall especially after thanksgiving is when I find when it really turns on. All I use is a 3" white twister tail on a quarter oz jig, really simple but effective. My friends and I have been doing this for the past 11 years or so and tried many tactics but the twister tail seems to work best.

Muskyteers advise is good and is the general tactic for walleye but think outside of the box when traditional tactics aren't cutting it. For example I was fishing a small lake 2 weeks ago for walleye. We worked deep weed lines, points, and deep holes and only pulled up a dink walleye no more than 10". We started working the shore lines casting into literally 3 feet of water and bam, walleye. We end up hitting 6 good fish.

All in all don't be afraid to try different tactics and spots. You never know, you might find a honey hole that nobody knows about good luck and put up some pics when you start hitting them!
