Hi Everyone, I have been talking with some friends recently about planning an ice fishing trip this winter. A couple of the guys are quite "anti" Nipissing due to reports of low catches. Some of what i've heard is that the "net" fishing is draining the lake of any real opportunities for anglers.

Hey Matt We go for a week every year, though the total number of walleye are up year after year for the last five years with what I'm assuming the new regs will be, we would have only about 4-5 keepers for 10 guys the whole week. We searched all over the eastern half of the lake drilled about 200 holes until we found a decent perch spot worth setting up for the last two days of fishing. I'm not trying to persuade either way but we are still going have a great time every year!

Thanks for the reply; unfortunately we can only do the weekend trip so a bunch of moves are kind of outside our purview.
I expect we'll have a great time no matter where we are, just want to actually catch some fish after a very disappointing trip last year to Scugog.

I have alot of friends that fish nippising all times of the year and they always get fish but the trick is to locate them by moving around and then there's days that go by and nothing bites very very slow and if you or your friends or anyone is fishing on those very slow days it doesn't mean there's no fish.... I think they could quit netting completely to ensure fish for our kids and there kids......
