Dec 12th and Nipissing's North West Bay is icing up nicely. I cut 5 successive holes out from the resort reaching the middle of the bay and I constantly measure between 7" and 8" of beautiful black ice. Won't be long now! Preparations for the ice fishermen and women have already begun. Monster pike will have no where to hide.

Remember to be safe out there and never assume that the Ice I we have is the Ice everyone has.

How much should we be worried about this last bit of mild weather and rain over the next few days??

Its all good,8" of good black ice with some slush on it, a couple of sleds were zooming on the lake today,I wouldn't ,but its personal judgment... mild weather didn't make big damage.fishing was good

This was aerial shot of lake Nipissing taken Saturday December 6th. The lake is completely froze over. We did a manual ice check which came up with a solid 6 but some places 7 inches. Next time we check I'll take pics.

Sounds like there's 7. To 8 inches of ice that's more than enough for any snow machine...
