No wires, unless maybe if you were after big pike. I found out about these hook snaps recently and I'm going to try them out this year. They're little tiny snaps you tie onto your line and they easily clip on/off your lure so you don't have to re-tie every-time you want to switch lures out in the cold. I've seen them at SAIL and BassPro

No wire ever, including if fishing for pike.
Been using those quick change snaps for years and love them.
Once in a while you may have to crimp them down and then be carefull as they may weaken a tad. that has happened ony 2 times I can think of in a dozen years tho.

I agree with Longshank. They are not needed for Walleye and when it comes to Pike, it's worth loosing the very odd one as it changes the action too much. Can't remember the last time I ever lost a Walleye from a cut line. Unless the last one was a wally........not sure now cause I never saw it...lol
