Anybody else staying in a bungalow the first week of January? The forecast is not looking good. Now I'm getting worried.......
This could be like two years ago when we could stay in the bungalows but not fish from them. They couldn't drill holes under the huts or too much water would come up.

I've been following a bunch of forecasts and they look great lots and lots of cold weather coming before January 1st... And well after the first I'm sure you won't have to worry there's gonna be lots of ice.... Check out accuweathers long term forecast......

Last i heard was 7-8 inches throughout! And that was over a week ago, should be more like 10 inches now! I dont think 3 days of weather barely above zero is gonna touch the hard stuff. I think everyone can just relax because ice is gonna be great for January 1st!

I'm not and wasn't just worried about the 3 days of slightly above freezing temps. Two years ago it wasn't all that mild, but the combination of snow and not the coldest temps meant we were fishing outside. It can take some pretty cold temps to make good ice trough the snow and we haven't been having long stretches of really cold temps this December.....just being a worry-wart I guess.
I hit the ice just about every weekend from December to April (conditions permitting) but this is the one weekend I bring a bunch of not so avid ice fisherman and woman out on the ice for some fun. If we have to fish outside, it puts a bit of a damper on some my quests.
With that said, I couldn't be anymore excited about our trip to the Nip and the up coming ice season!!!!
