Just came in off the ice. Measured min 9" all the way up to 14" in one spot. A few cracks to deal with but overall we are in good shape.

Just a small update from The North West Bay of Nipissing. Wish I had better new right now but the reality is that with such warm weather and 2 1/2 days of rain have created unsafe ice conditions out here. Please know I am not speaking for any other area of the lake but ours.

At the moment the conditions are so that it is not safe for me to venture out even to cut a hole. I am still optimistic that the weather will bring favorable temps in the next week.

For all of you that have asked for great ice fishing conditions for Christmas, keep beleiving and it will come

Similar on the south shore. I just arrived. This is shot of lake about 3 miles west of Waltonian inn near Lonely island. Lots of slush on ice. Temp is 3 degrees

Disappointing news for sure but thanks so much for the quick replies!
Looks like we'll push our trip back a few days or so. Cold weather on the horizon!

ya I drove the lakefront yesterday(in North Bay) and it looked worse then that pic. But the colder temps are coming tomorrow and on to the new year. It is a mess out there and very mild.

I have to add ^^^ I think the cold temps will make the ice in good condition by Jan 1st for most of the lake.

Good to hear. Looks like mon-wed will add a considerable amount of ice as the forecast says it will dip to below minus 20. See you on the 4th.
