New to this forum. This will be my 9th consecutive year going to ice fishing Nippissing in Callander Bay. I can truly recommend Bear Creek cottages. The last 2 years the fishing has been awesome. Last year between 2 of us we had no problem catching our limit. Our total walleye catch was 49 in 3 days. Many of them were either slot or too small. Many perch and jumbos with a total of 82. If any want to know secret, well its no secret. Plain pickerel rig. no spoons, or flashy lure. Bell sinker on bottom with ether 1 or 2 snell hooks onto line with a small minnow. Occasionally move your line and watch for bite. Use #6 hooks. Live minnow is important. Change minnow often and cut dead minnows in half and drop down hole. Chumming works great. I have found that most if not all my fish that I did keep had pieces of fresh minnows in them from me chumming my holes. Last year one ous us landed a 10lb 4 oz walleye this way. Keep it simple and watch fish bite.

sounds like you've been doing well. Thanks for sharing some tips. can you suggest a place for minnows near nipissing? Last year we bought them near toronto before making the drive.

We always stop for minnows at the tackle store in Sundridge beside the Blue Roof restaurant on the way up. Lots of big and small minnows and some decent gear.

Ya, pretty standard go to setup. I prefer single hooks but for sure we love our "active' minnows....over ones that don't bump around

Theres Billy Bobs bait on Lakeshote dr in Callander Bay. I only use pinhead minnows. Those are small. Works like a charm. Bear Creek cottages bait is included and they have lots of pinheads.
