Hi Folks,
Checked some spots in Kingston area for ice and the news is pretty much the same as expected. Not much ice around, a few small lakes are iced over, but all my regular spots are only shoreline ice and still lots of open water around. I did not venture out on any ice as I did not feel comfortable, but I did fish a little bit of the open water, sorry did not catch anything. Not even a perch. Hopefully temperatures drop soon so we can get out on the ice... I have been told some people are fishing on small lakes north of Kingston on 5 inches, but didn't sound very promising or safe to me. Please be careful when venturing out on unknown lakes as early ice can vary greatly, especially with this years mild temps. Sorry the news isn't better..

Now for the Good News, I drove over to the USA on Boxing Day and visited Gander Mountain. Nice store and lots of great deals! I bought some new ice fishing tackle, an ice scoop and new ice axe/spud bar.

Here are some pics..

Thanks for the report Jerry and sorry to hear there were no fish biting. Might have to venture down to Gander Mountin as well if we can't do any fishing!

Yes sorry the news wasn't better. Cold temps in forecast for next few days, so things should freeze and tighten up fast. I will let you know if I hear anything through the grapevine.
