Hi my friends, was wondering what to use to catch a lake herring on Simcoe. Only caught one in my life and that was thirty five years ago. How big do they get out there? Any suggestions on tactics, baits to use! Pictures of some would definately help.

Small spoon, take off the hook, add about 8 inches of line and then add a small treble with a 3/16th or 1/4 inch bead wired underneath the center of the treble. Light jigging will work. They used to sell those treble hooks before the heering was shut down.

what I will be using is a small white glow in the dark tear drop jigging spoon tipped with a bit of minnow just to make it look like I know what I'm doing. In reality last year watched a school of herring under me and they even tried to suck in the little black swivel on the line so don't think it really matters as long as its small and shiny.

Anything, they might be the stupidest fish ever I pulled one up holding onto my bell sinker fishing for perch, drop shot for perch works two single #4 or 6 hooks about 12" apart with a sinker about 4" under the bottom hook and a minnow on each hook

There really stupid you can just use the swivel and clip it in your hook for some reason they are attracted to the swivel and Caught alot of them using that method before.
