But be careful. Some very big pressure cracks. I walked up to one today to try and map out a crossing point and before I knew it both my Neighbor and I were up to our knees in slush. This was about 4 km off shore. The one crack from South Bay going east is about 5-6 km long. And now they are somewhat hidden by the recent snow. Be careful if travelling new territory

Thanx for the update Cranman. Pressure cracks covered with fresh snow is not fun. Are you a crane operator?

Stopped by on my way up to school today. Snowshoed out to a nice scene.

Took me 20 minutes with an incredibly dull auger to get through approx 15 inches of solid black ice. New blades are a must.

Only had about 45 minutes of light, but didn't mark a thing in 19.5 feet of water right along break-line. Used a Rapala Ultra Light Ripping Rap 4 in silver/blue.

Lures looks great, but are minnows the only way to go on Nip?

I did see a group close by get a small one on a tip-up, and heard another group say they had 5 today, so they're out there! Will post pics when I find em.

lol...no...that would be Craneman....but I love Nip and up a lot....
There are a lot of dangerous spots this year...so be careful if venturing out beyond known paths...
Seriously, I have GPS my paths to ensure safe passage,...

Since Saturday iv seen a truck with his front end stuck in a crack not checking to see if it's safe to cross
An ice hut half threw the same crack please check before you go across .. If your not sure don't risk it

This on the ice near highway 17w towards the reserve

Truck went through off memorial drive...but that ice is never stable there is warm water that runs into the lake there.
