Good afternoon everyone. After speaking to a few outfitters ice fishing season has officially started. All are reporting anywhere from 10 inches plus of good solid ice. Snowsquall warnings are in effect until about 8pm this evening. With winds visibility will be poor on the lake. Minus 24 overnight and sun tomorrow with a high of minus 14. Good luck to all.

3 OF US WERE UP THERE (BEAR CREEK, WITH SHAWN) YESTERDAY FOR THE OPENER AND CAUGHT ABOUT 30-40 WALLEYE'S AND NONE OF THEM WERE OVER THE "STUPID" REQUIRED SIZE OF 18.1. MOST OF THEM WERE 14-16 INCHES. WE ALSO CAUGHT 4 NICE SIZED PERCH AND A 2 LBS HERRING. GREAT TIME ANYWAYS

Been going to Bear Creek for last 4 years. Best fishing ever. Last year between 2 of us had 49 eyes between 12 and 28 inches. 82 jumbo perch. All this in 3 days. Shawn/Terra great host. Coming up this year Jan 25-29

Been going six fathers and six sons for about 7 years now. Not a lot of real serious fishing but always tons of fun. Just love watching them grow up and become better and more interested every year. Keep it going and you will never regret it.

Those of you venturing onto the ice in the Callander Bay area, please be aware of many huge pressure cracks. If driving, drive slowly and if at all possible stay on marked roads. Be safe! Have fun!
