Looks like at least a couple weeks of cold temps, so here's hoping it will be solid soon!

Sudzy, are you saying a couple more weeks are needed ? Or just the fact that we have a couple cold weeks coming.

Probably heading up to Rosseau this weekend, hoping this cold snap the past 7 days has frozen the bays enough to drill some holes! Fingers crossed...

It has been confirmed, there is ICE ON NORTH ROSSEAU (usually the last to freeze) weather for tonight is -13 C with 9 km winds (no Gusts) Mostly clear with 14 km visability, - 18 C wind chill.

Fingers crossed we will see 2 - 3 inches by tomorrow!

I spoke to Windermere House, they said people are walking on the ice, no huts yet, I would say if your not taking machinery on it you would be safe, but I would be very cautious.

Make sure you are using some ice testing apparatus or wear a life jacket just in case, make sure you have a buddy and walk inline with each other but with enough space that you don't both fall in, bring rope and leave the beer till ice is firmer.

And if you go you must give a report!!! haha would be much appeciated, all info I have is from a yokal local who lives on rosseau year round.

Well if anyone does get up there I would love a report on the ice conditions. But please be safe, all that snow probably created some issues.

Regards, ff.

What is it about this lake that makes it the last to freeze?

Thanks

Its the northern paert fo the lake, I think it has to do with the winds that break the ice up. less protection and also the wider part of the lake.
