I was planning to go to Lake of Bays tomorrow for whitefish and Trout. I have never fished there before and I appreciate any tip/advise about where to park my car and go on ice without getting any ticket and could get into whities/lakers grounds. (I am not asking for any hot spot). Thanks.

A lot of Marina's/town's to park. Dorset, Baysville, Minden, etc... Check out a navioncs map - look for depths anywhere from 60-100 feet and shoals or structure nearby. drop a line and good luck!

Yeah, Dorset, Baysville, Dwight. A ways past Baysville on 117 there's the Old Highway 117 or something close to that...go down there until you find the lake, park along the road and head out!!!

Ice sucks....I wouldn't recommend going for at least another week...so much snow here, even at minus 34 last week there's still only a couple inches - its surprising really how well the snow is insulating and keeping the ice from forming.

I was out today chiseling through to water in 1 to 3 hits, and still only 30 feet from shore. Had to fish in a differnet section of the lake, tons of slush and layered ice/slush/ice/slush which keeps breaking through...not worth it yet. People will go through on sleds soon, I'm sure of it...it seems that we should have plenty of ice with the cold we've had, but there's just far too much snow - even the deer haven't been out on it yet, which tells you something.

Great report Drew, you likely saved someone a lot of gas and wasted time or maybe a life. I am sure with all that snow the ice conditions can be very deceptive.

I've fished Ten Mile Bay off from Seabreeze Road for lakers -- west off Highway 35 just south of Dwight. I parked at the small church right down by the water -- you'll see a small road leaving Seabreeze Rd just before it turns left and heads south -- follow that, and you'll find the church. Head south west toward Rock Island and you can fish in 42 fow. There are usually a couple of huts out there. Another spot is close to the mouth of Ten Mile Creek further south closer to Raynor Island.

Water is generally shallower than what many anglers typically fish but there are lakers to be had.
