Went for drive yesterday morning and the parking lot was full, lots of guys out maybe 40, went down hill and talked hut operator, he was chopping heaved ice at shore, he already had drilled tree line and was going to drag his huts out today. I cant believe how fast ice built there wow! There wasn't a soul outside kemp, a few guys off the 30th sideroad gov dock also.

Action was pretty slow at bear point yesterday. lots of commotion on the ice with Bear Point Rentals taking all his huts out and making the tree line road. We started in 80' worked our way out to 110' got one on the tip up and one jigging. Lake trout. We moved around a lot. fish we got jigging we had just drilled a new hole, dropped our lure down, and half way down on the drop the laker smashed that thing.

Was planning on trying Bear Point at the end of this week, would be coming from out of town and just curious as to how far of a walk it is from shore to laker depths? any info appreciated as it is my first time trying for lakers.

700 meters roughly at a heading of 300 degrees
100ft deep of water there

The larger issue is "Billy Goat Hill." Here's a pic from several years ago. It's worse than it looks and I don't imagine it's changed much. Sometimes there's a rope there which helps a lot.

Sorry, for those who haven't been there, the hill is right at the shoreline. Pic is from ice level.

That's a deadly hill when there is no rope. Gets a little icy.

Still no rope yet. Bear Point hut Rentals was putting his huts out today. So at least good walking.
