Lots of people out on cooks today. There is a pressure crack about 300 meters out from Gilford side. York Region Police on ATV came to say hi. I should of recorded them talking amongst themselves as one officer said "I am not going anywhere near that f***ing crack! We will stay on this side and check the groups over here."
The day turn out great. Started hot and heavy until the officers on ATV scared them off. We were over 2.5 km out from Gilford side and the ice was over 7 inches thick. Easy walking so I did not regret leaving the ATV at home. Here was our mess between 3... But no worries... We clean it up.

How many ATVs were the officers on? And how dressed? With flotation suits or just cold weather coats? Do they wear their bullet proof vests on the ice?
Would have been great if recorded their video of staying away from cracks . . .
Am curious on how they manage their personal safety - after hearing reports that tell people to stay off unsafe ice when in others' opinions is safe . . .
I've never met police or MNR on the ice except once on Rice a pair from MNR out doing a creel study. I think that these were just students - not officers. They did not know much about the fish and couldn't answer the questions I asked. Very polite though . . .

3 officers on 3 ATV. Don't remember them on float suits. I think it was cold weather coats. Who knows... Maybe they float.
To be honest... If it was anyone else driving up to us that close and cracking the ice all around us.... We would of gave them hell. The ice below our seats turn from clear to white from the weight of the three officers and ATV parking beside us no more than 10 feet away. For a sec I felt in danger with all the cracking and rumbling.
But at the end we had a good time and everyone is whole!
