Today I decided to head out from the bottom of Mapleview Dr, Innisfil. Went out with the girlfriend to do some perching in 20ft of water. Walked out to just shy of 100m from the pressure crack. Nice black ice on top, so I thought. After cutting through about 75% of the ice I hear a creek then a crack The ice seemed to have splintered for a good 50m all the way round me. I'd be lying if I didn't say I nearly made some brown ice right there and then.
After the ice calmed I creeped back to the hole and inspected thickness. 3in or so. Decided it must have been some built up pressure. Drilled a 2nd hole, apologized to the girlfriend and began fishing.

Honestly I was meant to head out from 2nd Line Gilford today. Thought I would save myself a 15min drive and try Innisfil. Lucky she's not an Ex yet. Any woman who joins in for a fish is a keeper

I'm very surprised you even stayed! If the girlfriend even knew what could have possibly happened, she'd be smacking you until you made some brown ice! Luckily nothing happened! We already had 1 tragedy this winter.

Did you guys both have float suits on? Do you realize if not how close to the line of insanity your were trekking? I'm really really glad we did not have to read about you on news. Play safe.
