rWent out again today on St John to try and provoke some crappies into biting. Was -27c at 8 am so I decided maybe I should drag my backside a bit before heading out into the Arctic flow. Ended up stalling the trip till noon when the temp hit a balmy -18 lol. I wandered out onto the ice around 1 ,set up everything and began to fish using a favorite chartreuse tube which I find works very Well on the slabs. Three minutes in and whack!!! The float disapears down the hole, Holy crap does this feel like a lunker!! I fight the fish to the hole and see that nice white tip on the tail. Oh yeah!! A nice size eating walleye of 17" and 2.25 pounds. Fished the next three hours only to manage a dozen or so small perch. Gotta like the first three minutes!! Pics to follow.

I tried to find a place to park there this summer to throw my paddleboard in to fish, but didn't know where to and didn't want to tic the locals off. Not looking for the honey hole, but where can I access this lake? I have the same problem; lakes in every direction. Where to go???
