Hey guys,
Heading out to HH tomorrow for the first time, likely heading out from pier 4. Are there any trouble spots I should avoid? I've heard the ice conditions are good with 9"+ but I am still a little cautious of unfamiliar ice.

Last time I was out there the ice was in really good shape. No large cracks or anything. I haven't been out since the storm though so just be careful. Also, stay away from the docks in the marina by the boat club next to pier 4, the ice is sketchy close to them. As long as you don't get wanderlust and start walking toward the skyway you should be good to go.

I was told just inside the break wall at the yacht club by the beacons would be ok and on the opposite side of the break wall as well. Is this the area you are referring to?

Should be ok there inside the breakwall, just don't go right close to the docks themselves. I caught a few in the spot you are referring to last winter.

Hey glfpro how did you make out ???? Where did you fish? Hows the ice?
hey fishmagnet,
I fished for 3 hours or so, marked a pile of fish in roughly 37 FOW just outside the break wall of the harbour. I only caught two 10" perch and one dink. I might have to throw something different at them next time. I was using my Nipissing set up which is a swimming jig with a shiner. Works great on nipissing, not sold on it down here though.

Great info just wondering where the break wall is I think your talking about the Hamilton side by the marina.... I have bin told to go across from the Hamilton marinas to the Burlington side and fish the north side of the point if you look at the google map you will see the point im talking about i mark lots of fish there in spring and summer. If you where to walk up the point that im talking about you would end up in the cemetery . I'm hoping to get out there beginning of next week and Belwood as well just going to wait on the weather.... I can get over not catching anything if its a nice day just enjoy being outside .. What is the ice like over there I would think it should be fine but never ventured Out on the ice in the bay......

how did you make out Cuda?
We didn't catch a thing there yesterday. I made the drive to North Bay today, heading out onto Nipissing in the morning. Anxious to get back on some good fish.

We had 2 gators 32 and 37'', Lost a nice bow at the hole. Some nice jumbo perch, we where fairly shallow on a buddies tip. All fish went back down the hole nice way to kill a afternoon 15 min from the house. Good luck on nip.
