Personally i would hit port marina or jordan harbour befote martindale. The road down to henley island is closed. So not only do you have to walk further from martindale pond, the water sucks. Visibility is usually next to zero and is very tough to find holes that produce. When i go im lucky if i ice 5 crappies. Waste of time imo

Visibilty in Martindale is a around 6-8 feet right now the water is clear, the harbour is 10+ feet, when the canal closes the visibilty in the pond & hardour increase dramaticlly. Rene park has access as well as a park at the back end. The marina's are a pretty tough go right now. They have had the living crap drilled out of them on a daily basis, I still can't beleive the crowds beating on the poor marina.

Ive seen a few huts out at the grandstands, have thought about settin up the hut for a day out there as having a timmies right there is a nice touch, but navionics only shows that its like 7ft deep. The huts that i see out there hug the one bank so im not too sure what theyre catching. Havent had the opportunity to talk to anyone who fishes there but may give it a shot one day.maybe try there? People ice fish up at beaverdams, but the water level changes way too often for my liking, can create a gap between ice and water. Also i think its illegal? the police made my brother pack up a few years ago when he was out in his flip up off dq rd.also i find that the port marina pressure has slowed a bit with the closing of the gates. I guess people dont want to walk, it definetly makes for a really tough go when theres no snow on that road. But it definetly is still getting alot of pressure, just not as much as a few weeks ago. I still fish there as i live right down the road so its hard to pass up. I only fish there during the weekn now though due to the amount of pressure, i can never get on my deep holes on the weekend. I work 5am-2p so its great for the afternoon-evening bite. Usually pretty dead during the week, i can imagine its still a zoo on the weekends.
