On Monday, I fished from my shore fishing spot on the West side of the Bay.
Within the first hour I landed a nice 4lb Steelhead.
Water clarity was much better than last Thursday.
Things went quiet after I caught the 4lber until about 11:30-12:00.
A wind got up out of the North and started to bring waves on shore. Right away the fish started to hit. In the next 2 hours, I hooked 5 more Steelhead, but lost all but another 4lb fish. For the lost fish, my leader broke in every instance.
I fish 15lb braid with an 8lb fluorocarbon leader and for years I have Seaguar leader line.
After I caught the first fish, I needed to start on a new spool of Seaguar and when I opened it, it seemed much more flexible, thinner and lighter than in the past.
I suspect it is 4lb line which was mislabelled. I won't be making any more leaders from it.
All rivers I saw yesterday or talked to people about are high and dirty(Big Head, Beaver, Indian Brook, Silver Creek, Pretty, Batteaux Creek and the Nottawasaga.)
Where I cross the Notty on Hwy 26 at Edenvale it is well over its banks and very dirty.
If the weather co-operates, I hope to get out some more before the ice forms.
Fish were smoked today-Indian candy style.
I will try and post a pic of the fish. My first try at pics.
