Interesting question.
Tonight I was wondering about Cobourg Harbour - has anyone fished that? In summer I see pike and perch from the shore.
Town's bylaws can't stop me from fishing in the Harbour?
Is that to the west of the beach?
I think its a sanctuary in soft water, i saw some bass cruisin around when i was on the pier 2 summers ago and some locals said theres a sign halfway up the street that said no fishin Pretty sure it was coburg but i could be wrong

Town says no fishing from the railings. Contoversial - mnr should have the say?

yup its all open and surges up and down with the waves...looks terrifying. I use to fish in there when I was a kid and in that little tiny bay that you go past when driving south down brock st. just before the road curves to the East. I caught a lot of big ole ugly channel cats, as well as a drummlin I think it was. I havent really heard of anyone pulling anything other than cats out of there. I use to see Chinese families pullig and keeping a tonne of catfish from there. This was all in the summer. Way to dangerous for ice fishing I`d say.

Thats the exact spot im standing in,
yup looks scary! The fishing use to be better in that spot but then maybe 10 years ago give or take a couple years they dredged that area for whatever reason and I stopped catching fish there so I gave up. Maybe I`ll try again this summer.

What is difference with whitby harbour and Frenchmans Bay?
Frenchmans is more protected from the wind?
Thanks
Yes. Whitby just has marina on one side and pier on the other, so nothing to protect. Frenchman's comes farther in land and surrounded by houses on both sides.
