From my experience, you're going to want to fish Splake more like Brookies than Lakers. Closer to structure like wood and rocks. Can't hurt to fish'em deep if they're not cooperating in the skinny water though...

Plenty of huts out on the lake near the parking area on the North Steenburg Lk Road. Some guys just walk out.

Fish around the huts and you will be okay.

I have had luck using tear drop type jigs with minnows on set lines in 8 to 20 FOW.

Also some decent sized perch in the lake as well. I see from the stock list they put 7500 fish in this year. Usually they stock it every other year.

Here is a web cam from the lake showing a few huts....... Not exactly sure where they are tho.....

Best of luck!!

Splake and bass is all I have seen caught in this lake. There is a deep spot in the lake that goes down 30+ feet, this is where I have seen them fishing for splake in the summer but my buddy did catch one in the fall on open water just off the shoreline in shallow water. See if you can locate a depth chart for this lake and look for the deeper holes.

Good luck and give us a report when you get back..........with pictures of the splake you catch
