Just spoke to GRCA and Guelph lake is closed they say. There is no ice fishing and anyone who is on the property is trespassing.
Emailed them in the fall about lake info and they said then there was no ice fishing.

Legally impossible for them to "own" the lake, they can control access via land ownership around the lake but good luck convincing the 50 guys out there every weekend of that.

I have emailed the link to this forum and the replies, suggesting they can do what they like. to GRCA. This will get the ball rolling on enforcement. There is a reason for no ice fishing. Obey the laws/rules. Those that don't are the same ones who no doubt break and violate other fishing regulations and probably keep fish illegally.

Parking and fishing are allowed along the hwy. The city changed the parking there for this reason. The conservation authority has to not control it in order to release themselves from responsibility. So they say ice fishing is closed because to them it is. Do not buy ↑ that nonsense. Another link to send along for you. Get a life!!

Thanks for all the feedback.
Not trying to spoil anyone's fun. Heck, I'm trying to find some of my own. Point is I want to make sure I am not breaking any rules or trespassing. I have been fishing here in Ontario of over 25 yrs and have always followed the rules, but have seen numerous times others taking fish illegally etc.
Also, I taking out my 6yr old son for some crappie fishing ( first time ice fishing for him ) and want to set a good example. I don't want to get in trouble with him because his dad didn't follow the rules. We don't need that.
I called GRCA but they would not comment on my question about walking onto the lake from the road. Seems they don't want to say yes you can fish for liability reasons. So how does one know what the law/rules are if the GRCA would not give a definite answer.
To confirm....there is parking allowed on 24? eg. not posted no parking? Where is everyone fishing? south side or north side of 24. I have never been to Guelph lake. I understand there is a dam on the sw side.
Thanks to everyone and no offence if I came on strong. I just don't like when people appear above the law and do whatever they want. If I came across like that...I apologize.

Guelph lake is a great place to take the boy. I had my 5yr old out last weekend on the way back from simcoe. Crappie are there but I can't find them through the ice. Loads of good perch and big pike. Make sure you park at least a foot and a half off the white line. My boy meet some other kids out there as well which gave me time to pull a few up myself.
