I just got back from the Burlington side down by the wood lawn cemetery there is parking at the bottom of spring gardens rd "NOT ALOT"well there where cars parked there so park and walk out to the bay from there this is what we will do but where only going to fish along that point only thing I don't know how the ice is so I'm going with a buddy Saturday or Sunday but I'm pretty sure there is lots and we are going to grab some minnows first in Hamilton then head down there that's all I know about there for now also I did not see anyone fishing but visibility was bad....
Anyone know how much ice there is and if the freighter's coming in there affect the ice down in the west end of the bay .......

Judging by the amount of ice in the channel by the lift bridge and in the harbour in general I wouldn't worry about freighters! I haven't been out there myself in a couple of weeks but I have seen guys out on the ice this week. Also saw a sled zipping up and down on the burlington side the other day. Stay toward the west end and you should be fine. Ice still looks sketchy towards the skyway.

I don't think so. It should stay locked up until spring. That being said, once it starts to break up a lot on the east end, a few days of strong wind from the west will speed up the process. You should be good to go for a few weeks yet, I don't think anyone is moving for a while. The coast guard ships are locked in pretty tight. (Source: I can see them out the window where I work )

Yes I knew that I just added mr cause the post looked like I asking for access points at mountsbergalso I haven't fished mountsberg in 20 years what type of fish are in there and is it open year round we used to walk on the tracks to get to our fishing area but that was some time ago....... The weather forecast now is calling for up to 10cm of snow and 15 to 20km winds so don't know if where going to brave the elements or not ..... Good luck if you head out.....

Hi. Mountsberg is all right for fishing. last winter more than a hundred pike some how got through the dam and into the creek the mnr netted a ton of them and took them to princess point they said the pike got over the dam I think that is a lot of bullshite. The lake was frozen over. anyway I fish there in my canoe I fitted with an electric trolling moter. mountsberg is a little tough to fish it is choked with weeds but thats what cool about it.Its better to be out in the lake to fish. There is no ice fishing there. Here is my a picture of my canoe.

That's all you need for getting into those tight spots it also looks like your at the Bronte launch I think you would do well up the sixteen mile creek as well shhh though don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers......lol

Yes it is bronte. Its a great boat to take to all the small lakes we have around here. Milton has a nice size pond good for crappies and they stock it with bows for the kids derby in the summer. I had had pike and bass swim right under the boat when I am drifting or still fishing. Great boat to haul around. Throw it on the car and off I go.

FYI it was 1000+ pike they took out of mountsberg...the dam was spilling over the top due to the high water levels from melting snow- they did get over the dam and were all trapped in that little stream below. Saw them in person it was insane! Fishing there was phenominal like 10 years ago we would catch 15-20 pike each and 5-10 bass in a day. Past few years has been very very poor in comparison... Also taking the canoe out after July is so hard the weeds come up to the surface and it's pretty much a swamp!

It makes you really wonder where your park fees go towards doesn't it. Totally sad. The buildings look better then the lake but it was the lake that brought people there in the first place.
