There is one of these Eskimo propane augers for sale for $550 regular $720 at my local store, just wondering if any of you guys have experience with this auger and if it`s worth spending the extra money over a gas auger. Thanks

Great price!
Costco carries the same one and it seems to get good reviews.

Yea just trying to decide if it is worth the extra money for the propane or not. Any ideas?

Really depends what you're after...
Propane offers easy start
No flooding
No need to fill up gas
No chance of getting gas on hands
You can also use the propane cylinder for your buddy heater
expect 50-60 holes on a full propane tank.
low emissions - you can drill holes in your hut.
Propane does smell a bit eggy though.
Though, propane augers generally seem to be heavy.

I think if I had to go for a new auger from my current 4 stroke gas (no mix) I would go to a propane type.

End of day - probably very similar to what I'm using today - propane is also four stroke technology?

If so - much quieter / lower rpm than 2 strokes.

The other cheaper gas option http://www.sail.ca/en/catalogue/ice-fishin...ice-auger-8-in/

I owe you a cold one stevie123, just snapped one of these up at the Vaughn store. There are surely better augers out there, but not in my budget. Can't beat that price!

Fyi for anyone thinking of these, they are refurbs with a 90 day warranty from Rapala.
