Ya know why people buy them, they only consider the up front $$$ and not the reliability when they're out the door.
This is the principle reason people end up buying sh!t products. If they'd consider the additional 1 or 2 grand as insurance of reliability and good resale, they'd just go out and get a honda or yammi to start with. We've all done it at some point though. Never again for me!
really? I went to many places and most 800+ cc bikes were cheaper with other brands. I took the Polaris cause it was more $. I didn't do my research right but there was another purpose other than ice fishing. Cause if it was solely for ice fishing I would of bought an Argo for what I paid.
I'm generally happy with my Argo. Dropped into water once.

put some dielectric grease on the relay contacts where they plug in. Polaris wiring and connectors are terrible, they corrode because they don't put any grease in the connections???

I have a 2006 Sportsman 500 H.O. This is the first year that I have used it in the winter. I used it 6 times. 4 of the times the temp was between -8 and -20. No issues. 2 of the times the temp was below -35 and it wouldn't start in the morning. Once it warmed up a little bit it started.

I had a sportsman 500 for about a year and it was the biggest piece of sh*t I've ever been on, it left me stranded it the middle of the lake twice. Sold it and bought a yamaha grizzly
Do yourself a favour and get rid of it
X2 on the Yamaha's, never a problem getting mine started

What about Polaris sleds, any members drive these find they have problems starting them in cold weather? Seems odd to me that someone who manufactures sleds should be able to build an ATV that starts in cold weather. I once heard someone call them called pull-pull-pullaris, maybe there is a good reason why

You might want to research dielectric grease. Contrary to popular belief, it's an insulator, not a conductor. It's best use it to prevent corrosion from entering connectors once they are sealed, not to prevent the actual contact from corroding. There are other types of petroleum products to protect contact points.

Fisherman, thanks for the info, that is something that i learned today (from you), live and learn and pass good info to others. What is somthing that could be used in wiring to prevent corrosion and still make good conductivity?

You'll probably sh.. when you read this but here goes. You know those toilet bowl sealing rings, sort of a sticky beeswax, yup. It seems like nothing gets through that stuff, no salt corrosion, etc. I've always had good luck with it. The only trick, stuff has to be warm, it gets pretty stiff in the cold. Another one is the green can of Rust check, it's not runny.
