Just an idea which came to my mind yesterday. I was thinking that a small carbon mono oxide detector (one of those cheap and good ones sold in Canadian Tire or Home Depot) might be a good idea to have in permanent hut if someone wants to sleep over night and does not trust the ventilation system. I have not seen that in those huts I have stayed in.

I have one and even use it in the pop up for day fishing. It cost $20 and it takes 5 seconds to put the battery in and is peace of mind for the whole family.

my martin portable heater has a carbon monoxide detector built into it although if you always keep ventilation in your hut you should never have problems

Are you a smoker? Im sure you dont if the famjam is in the hut im just wondering of itd go off too fast if smoking.
Not a smoker. Same detector you would have setup in your house. Since I don't hear of people complaining of them going off in their houses from smoking, don't see it happening in hut either as most huts would have more airflow than a lot of basements I know.

carbon mono oxide detectors are always placed on the wall but lower than your bed or where you sleep as carbon mono oxide is a heavier gas and would builds on from floor first and then goes up if it is continued to be discharged or produced.
It is not like smoke detector to be put on the ceiling as smoke always goes up.
If you are a smoker I won't think that the tobacco smoke would sett off the carbon detector as smoke always goes up.

Hey I would like everyone to know that carbon monoxide is "slightly" lighter than air. Please do not think that it is heavier. It disperses into air very easily, and can build up over a very shot time frame. The only reason that a detector is found lower than a bed is because your wall outlet is at that height. As far as tobacco setting off a detector, you must realize that any type of combustion has CO as a byproduct, therefore eventually a detector will start sounding. Detectors are a great idea. Make sure you have a working one in your home, and in this case, in your hut if you choose to do so. Cheers, 2 Ton

Lol 20.00 bucks is cheap if it saves your life!!!! Its funny though we have had our house smokey as hell from cigs and Mary Jane never a beep from our smoke detector but sometimes when we make toast in the toaster it goes off but a least we now it works...lol crazy eh!!!!
