always have 1 in my hut , the only time it goes off is when you auger your holes , P.s never leave it out in your hut, the cold kills the batteries, bring it in with you

Interesting thought in the batteries.
Instead of bringing in the unit - could just remove a battery so no loner in use. Then when hut warms next - push battery back in. Low risk of CO while hut warming up .. . .

I always have a window open or the door. I do not need to be in + degrees when ice fishing. Sleeping over night in a hut... Not interested. Done it and hate it.

I always carry one as I had a mishap that left me in hospital a few years back with a faulty camp stove supplied by an outfitter. Even if you have a built in, it never hurts to carry a second. My member name says it all and believe me I've seen co poisoning many times!
