Hi Folks,

Headed up to Rosseau this morning with Thorahguy and met up with Sdcaller and Sudsmaster. After throwing my GPS out the window and some Dukes of Hazard (inside joke) ... We arrived at our destination. Lines down at noon. Sdcaller and Sudsmaster were already hard at work fishing and hadn't iced any trout yet, although Sudsmaster had lost one in the am. We jigged, we bounced bottom, we yo yoed, we dead sticked, we had minnows on set lines and slip bobber minnows... Painfully watched fish look at our offerings all day, and I mean just look, not even a bump. At 3 PM we were calling it a day, and had a lively minnow setup about 20 feet off bottom.. We see this fish rise to it, surely this was going to be it. The fish swam right up to the suspended minnow and just sat there, staring at it, for 2 minutes the fish just looked at the minnow, it was swimming around lively saying "Hi eat me"..., but no go - the fish just slowly & lazily swarm back down, NOTHING not even a touch.... We threw in the towel and accepted the skunk...

All I can say, it was a bluebird sky, fishing by the blueberry, with fish that were blue.. LOL

All in all we would do it all again, good company with good friends, and good times..

Thank-you Sdcaller for the smoked fish pinwheels, they were delicious.. and thank-you for the smoked trout packages. Can't wait to dig into them..

Here is a pick of Thorahguy by the Bluebird 2.0, with Sudsmaster..

No fish on Rosseau? What the heck did you do to my prized lake Jerry!! Lol oh well at least you had good company and the sun was shining. It's very rare not to get a touch up there. Hopefully next time.

Early bird gets the worm boys. I've been finding that the bite is best 9-1. Some before, some after. They were at times just staring at the bait today though. I'd see one down there and just give a slow lift and then they would hit. Very light bite today for the most part. But they were biting, around the corner on jo for sure. We had a great day. Sorry you guys didn't have very good luck. Sounds like you did all the right things. Sometimes they just don't cooperate. I'm gonna guess u were at Windermere?

FF.

I agree, poor day fish wise, but great day with good company.

They hung in until 3PM, I quit at 1:30, but I had been fishing for over an hour before they arrived.

I was fishing without a hut and up until 11:30, it was a very pleasant day even though it was very cold, sun was shining and there was no wind at all. About 11:30 the wind started getting up, and while Jerry offered to put up his 2nd hut for me, I toughed it out.

When I quit, I wasn't cold, but just wasn't getting any encouragement from the fish to stay around. Very few fish showing up on the screen and showing little or no interest in either my minnow or the spoons I jigged.

The smoked fish I gave Jerry, was the lake trout he caught when we were out on Simcoe in the Summer. It was vacuum sealed and frozen, so it will be just like it came out of the smoker. It was done Indian Candy style like the recipe on this site.

Only way the day could have been better, was if we had got some fish.

It was a great day to be out: gorgeous day, good friends, the serenity of Windermere. What more could a guy ask? Fish would have been nice to see topside but it was just not to be.

I did take two photos as we were leaving.

This is Suds securing the Blueberry II for the day.

And this is Jerry making the “Walk of Shame” back to the parking lot. The good news is he lugged all my stuff as well as his own.

I did enjoy the day for all the reasons already mentioned. No arguments there.
Oh yah, Jerry definitely needs a new GPS

The X67 is fine Craig. It clearly showed the few fish and their distain for all our offerings. It's his GPS that we both agree needs replacing

I agree Gord, after following Jerry out last time I decided to stay back 500' and just walk a straight line through his zig zags and he was following his GPS. I know I am out of shape but it was rough walking and I am sure Jerry walked 1/2 a KM farther than I did.
I hope you have your WP's backed up Jerry, that sucks.

That's better than walking right behind and shouting 'mush" every few mins!

Ah don't let Jerry fool you Gord he is really looking to discover a beauty cottage on one of those back roads he claims his GPS is leading him on ...lol

Yeah the fishing has been tougher this yr than the last 3 or 4 and FF is right about morning fishing is usually better but there was sun, reasonable temps as the day went on and good company so as far as I was concerned the day was a success ....

It was nice seeing you guys and I hope to see you later in the month once Simcoe closes as we are open to the 31st.

It sounded like you guys had a great time except for not catching any fish. This year has had a lot of those days it seems. It looks like a beautiful spot there and one day we will have to get up there and try our luck.
