try a lure called a perch talker....they seem to work even on a slow bite, but my alltime fav is a mamuska jig......i think thats how its spelled......always tipped with a minnow head or maggot.....try throwing a few dead minnows down the hole, they seem to come in when they see that.....but number one, when yur on them get that jig back down asap!keep them there....thats huge... also drill holes outside your area in an x pattern,so when the perch move on you can get back on them again quickly
and down size your baits too, when its slow they want a small easy meal

I have a rule and people call me crazy... I stick with it and seems to work. Sunny days I hit deep water for laker and whities... They seem to like the extra light and I find them active. Sunny days I would not go for perch. They seem to turn off in my experience. Overcast days I find the perch are extremely active. White fish and lakers hit too on overcast... But I never got an extremely good day on overcast days for lakers and white fish.

I was perch fishing today around snake island. No jumbos but lots of 8 inchers and less. Had 3 really BIG hits but lost them. Not sure what they could've been. Almost took the pole down the hole. The only thing is the depth was 24 feet of water. All in al,l a great relaxing day out.

perch numbers are way down and i think its the Herring causing this problem. perch are pushed to deeper waters as the herring chase the bait fish in the shallows. Good luck perch.

No perch in Simcoe?......C'mon. There's tons every time I go out and I almost never go to the same place consecutively. It's not just me either. Lots of my friends are hammering the Jumbos and lots of them. As well, there's a bazillion dinks in there. The species are adapting and there water is much more clear than it used to be so that would seem to me the reason for a lot of the frustration of the people that do not want to change their tactics or move around but to say it's fished out is just a bad guess. Don't take my word for it, just use some electronics and see for yourself. Also take some mental notes, because their patterns have changed over the years for sure. their not in the same spots they were 15 years ago. Their patterns are still habitual just not the same habits.
