Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to catch some whitefish, or at least one. Went out today off ninth line and didn't have much success other than a nice herring. Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm not looking for anyone's honey hole or anything. Just some help for an inexperienced whitey fisherman.

i just posted this on another thread....
the fish will be moving shallower cause the baitfish are coming shallow getting ready to spawn....rocky points, good place to start.....try badboys tipped with back half of a minnow, spreader, smaller spoons,,,dig it right on bottom, silt or rock, make noise with your lure, get their attention.....chum with dead minnows,salties.....experiment.....practice,reading,,,all will help your chances,,,good luck man,you will get it

At this point in the season your most likely success would probably to go with one of the operators listed at the top of the board...ask if they have whitie/trout huts.. The old tip up with spreader and a high hook is hard to beat for putting fish on the ice ... Good luck.

I definitely found the bait fish today. The schools of herring were nonstop today from 9 30 to 12. I couldn't believe the amount of herring I saw on my camera today

If you are in deep waters and you find a school of herring... Drop a swimbait. The lake trout is all around that and will hit anything that looks different. If in shollow.. Catch the hereings! Lol
