Me and my buddy arrived at Bear point at about 6:30am and didn't get up heart attack hill till 6:30pm. Didn't mark many fish all day but the whitefish were being sneaky and stealing our minnows. The bite was only on for about 15 minutes all day. My buddy landed this beauty whitey on my tipup when I stepped outside to pee. Go figure. missed a couple more on bad hook sets and then the rest of the time we went a little stir crazy trying to amuse ourselves without any fish being marked.
Still wouldn't rather be doing anything else. Beautiful day out there. I'm going to be in purgatory after the 15th.

Just trying out new techniques. That rod was very garlicy. My hands were slick with garlic oil that I doused my swim baits in to no avail.
It was my first time using homemade garlic marinade for my swimbaits heard it might be the difference maker. Not today apparently. Anybody have an opinion on the matter. I ended up choking us out of the hut for a little while it was so potent. I don't think I will try that rout

Nice catch. Buddy of mine made garlic paste to spread on lures. Too much can be bad... He didn't catch anything that day. But it kept everyone around us few hundred yards away!

Applying too much.
Is your homemade concoction thin enough so you can use a plastic bottle sprayer? You may want to buy ready made unless you plan to use that much garlic making a pizza while you fish. Dip scents hold on to you lures, bait nicely. Again, whatever works for you and you are most comfortable using.
The concept of scent is to remove odors. It is not the answer for everything, just another option. Being flexible and creative helps?
Lighter line?? Problem is is you hook up to a larger fish thin line and ice, well..... In open water in many cases I use the lighter line in order to get a bite. Again, another option.
Too many variables / options here. A lot of folks on this site can offer various options / suggestions.
