I would rule out sucker or sturgeon. Lips underneath a sturgeon and dorsal looks too far back for a sucker plus body isn't round enough. Doesn't look like a ling. I've caught hundreds of them on nipissing. My guess...a slightly distorted view of a pike. It's snout looks a little short but the rest looks like pike to me. Hope you catch him so we can find out for sure.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Have seen many pike with stub noses but I am not sure the body length looks like the correct proportion. Maybe too short for a pike with a head that size?

Well I would say to be a Ling it has to, I think, at least look like one. I caught lots of them before and would say there are no similarities other than it's swimming on the bottom. A Vulcan fish, Spock re-incarnated.
