Looks like a Piker to me.

99% sure that is a ling having a nap

Don't think it's a mud puppy lol... But if it was, I'd be freaked out as hell, that'd be a MASSIVE mud puppy (going by how big he said the baits in the pic were)

Kind of looks like 1 dorsal fin at the back, my guess is a pike, going by the mouth as well... But that would be awesome if it was in fact a Lake Sturgeon.


Send it to MNR, I'm curious as to what they would say.

I'm not sure if that is a mud puppy, I can't see any back legs and it seems big for a mud puppy but there is really nothing in the picture to compare it with to know what the size really is. My guess is it is a mud puppy though.

As for the original picture, it is not a ling becaue a ling does not have a single dorsal fin,but a continuous fin on it's back.

Snakehead is ruled out also because it has a continuous back fin like the ling.

Bowfin (dogfish) also ruled out for the same reason.

My thought is that a pike would be more aggressive with the minnow,the bait and the camera in sight.
