Looking for Advice

I have been on this forum for quite a while, but since I am not from the area and could not contribute much on the topic of Simcoe fishing, I has been mostly a reader.

My buddy and I finally decided to visit a big Lady and try it's famous laker and whitie fishing. Will leave Ottawa tonight with a goal to start fishing early tomorrow. The forecast promises a great day out there. Our plan is to go somewhere around Oro, BBP or other spots in that area (with the shortest walking distance). Of course, we are not looking for somebody's honey hole, but would greatly appreciate any advice from the fellow members on the area with most recent steady success rate (it sucks spending almost a day on driving to and from the spot and not even seeing the fish). Also, as we are complete strangers to the area, any advice on safe, and preferably free, parking will be a great asset too.

Just a bit of background:
1. We will be walking not driving on ice;
2. We have almost no experience in this kind of fishing;
3. We have good electronics and augers;
4. Perusing the forum (which is an absolutely great resource), allowed us to prepare our gear and we believe that we have all necessary rods and baits.

So, if someone does not mind sharing this general type of knowledge, it could make all the difference for us and turn already promising day (in terms of weather) into an absolute success.

Also, If some of you will be fishing nearby tomorrow, it would be awesome to meet you guys in person.

That is awesome. You guys must be really excited after reading some posts and seeing some of the fish porn as of late.

Walking is always tough especially when it comes to free parking.

Save some gas and go out with an operator out of Beaverton. You can park on the ice for free, shave an 1.5 hrs. off your driving time, get some good advice and a lesson on how to catch them. The money you save on gas, parking, bait and not to mention time is well worth the added expense + they put you on fish, no walking etc. Think about it.

Hamerincameron has given you the best as advice I totally agree with him.
I recommend Tim hales in Beaverton and because its through the week
there should be some availability.
Take his advice even though there is no guarantee that you will catch fish, but hut operators know there stuff plus a ride in and out ,minnows supplied and a heated hut and I will add I have never been skunked at Tim hales by not catching fish....
Any way that's my opion as well and don't forget to let us know how you did.

Many thanks guys for your advice! Going with an operator sounds good, but we would like not to depend on their start and finish times. Also, we would like to retain our mobility and not to be confined in one hut they put us into. By the way, if the forecast is not deceiving, tomorrow will be a perfect day to move around. I promise to post a report once back from our trip. Hoping, there will be some fish pictures to attach to it.

If you take either Killarney Beach Rd (4th Line) or 9th Line to where they end at the lake you can park on the lake at no charge. There are a few operators out there that may steer you in the right direction if you tell them how far you traveled and your plans for the day. A few of the operators will run you out onto the lake into certain areas for a fee, but that will save you some walking and get you to the fish quicker. You can make your own way back to your vehicle or they'll come back out and get you if you stay in touch with them.

Minnows if you need them are at the convenience store in Lefroy or at Hwy 89 and Yonge St.

Hope you guys have a great time, as great as time we did in Ottawa. You have been given some great advice if you want to be put on fish, otherwise just enjoy the weather and Simcoe hospitality as it's a big lake.
