DISTANCE ON SLED FROM 9TH ORO TO THORAH ISLAND

HEY GUYS NEW TO THIS FORUM . I AM FROM PARRY SOUND BORN AND RAISED HUNTING FISHING ALL MY LIFE . WONDERING WHAT THE APPOX TIME/DISTANCE IS FROM 9TH ORO TO THORAH ISLAND . I WOULD BE ON A SLED WITH SLIEGHE . THANKS GUYS

If you are traveling that far over the ice I would hope you have a GPS. If so you should be able to plot a track and get the distance. If no GPS, I would be hesitant to travel that far from shore.

I don't know if you're thinking of making that trip solo or not; I know we all have our own personal comfort levels. That said, I wouldn't consider that trip solo. It's a big lake and there are many reasons why a buddy system makes a lot of sense. To answer your original question, I suggest you use the Navionics Webap.

My buddy went from bbp to around there in 20 to 25 min's no sled behind tho on a good day too ! I agree with no fisher if no gps I would think about it I've needed mine a few times always turn it on first thing in the am saved me b4 more then once

Those are good advices but the guy was born and raised as an outdoors-man. We should not worry

If he had a GPS, he wouldn't be asking this question!

You seem like a smart guy so I am hoping you understood that I was really suggesting he have one before going on that trek. If your so eager to provide an answer to his question then please do so although others have already. If you are more interested in making a comment about my post then I suggest you do so via PM. My apologies to the original poster, I was going to run the distance on my Navionics and add it to my post but got side tracked.

I have a gps lol and navi just figured I would ask a time/km's lol relax guys I am from parry sound not Toronto

Personally I would do more driving in the car to get around to the east side and travel less on the lake. I believe it is about 3 miles from the Beaverton shore line. You can correct me if I am wrong.

I'd take the sled. Much more fun and probably faster than the car trip.

If your coming from parry sound I'd park at the bottom of the 14th of Oro (Carthew bay) and travel S/E from there. Will cut down on travel, both by truck and will nock several miles off as well on the lake.

The whitefish grounds are roughly 12 to 15 km northwest of beaverton. You will be fine crossing the lake it is in perfect condition right now. Obviously don't travel it if the weather is nasty. Time from oro to white shoal area would take anywhere from 10minutes to 40 minutes depending on speed etc. as a northern fella as myself I'm sure would would be fine and have more common sense than most. Especially when the majority on here are from dirty city.
