Great!

Life ban or two year ban - if he goes out fishing next while -I hope he gets caught. Then the escalations start in the justice system.

Keeping in mind that locally he is now well known - I'm sure that if someone even sees him near water would be reported . . . .

Wasn't he fishing on a borrowed boat? How many of his friends would lend him boat now?

Great to the guys who captured this on video!!!! Without them standing up to do the right thing this guy would still be killing muskies

Well look at it this way, he paid $1000 to keep 1 muskie and then not fish for 2 years. Without getting into hypotheticals of whether he's done this before, it seems like a decent punishment for that.

As for whether being given 3 months to pay, or the fact that he is able to be out in a boat fishing etc while on social assistance, well that's another thing...

To think this POS was able to fish any time during the day and any day he wants while collecting social assistance and the rest of us must put in an honest day's work and earn our living just has me fuming!
He is living off all of us! He is making us all look bad by needlessly killing fish!
What's wrong with this picture???
He should get off his fat, sorry a$$ and get a job! He has nothing else better to do for the next two years so why not go out and find himself a damn job! They are always looking for Wal-Mart greeters or McDonald's hamburger flippers!
Better yet....... Deport him!

Very light punishment for my liking. He should've been serving time on a fish farm for those 2 years and not at home. This way he may have a little more respect for many different types of fish. The justice system should think differently about handing down the appropriate punishment. What is a fine reaĺly. Pay it off and away you go. Did he really learn anything from this? Not.

Disgusting! The fact he's suckling the government teat on social assistance is just icing on the cake. Fine was too low, punishment too soft.

Prosecutor Demetrius Kappos Wednesday asked justice of the peace Salma Jaffar to impose a $2,000 fine. Hearing that Parent is on social assistance, Jaffar imposed a $1,000 fine and gave Parent three months to pay.

So I guess all he has to do is sign the back of his government cheques and send them to the judge. 3 months to pay, probably has enough left over for beer and wings.

Tough crowd here!! Sheesh, guys, it was just a fish. No need to have him drawn and quartered. Save your anger for the pedophiles and such who commit much more serious crimes.

Besides the fine he has been subject to public shaming via social media---the modern day equiv of the stocks in the publc square in days of yore. He'll probably have more trouble mooching off his 'friends' in the future.

Of course the 'system' would lighten the penalty. the fine should have been tripled, all his gear confiscated, and a five year ban from fishing.
