Colour combinations for jigs, Is mixing colours a good idea

I've been chasing whites and lakers all winter. I usually stick with pink or white jig heads and swammers. If I am using a pink or white jig head should I use the same colour Swammer on that jig or is it ok to mix colours.

I experiment with colour combinations more throughout the soft water months. During the winter I tend to stick with black and unpainted jigs. Something to try is a jig with a small underslung flasher blade. Any little bit of extra - albeit subtle - flash helps. I use them for soft water walleyes and they've doubled my catch rates. I also typically use the Owner Saltwater Darter jig head for swim baits through the ice. I have never found them in any finish but unpainted. They're available in weights from 1/2 Oz and up.
As for your question about colour combos, keep experimenting until you get something you're confident using. You never know, you might find the next hot combo for Simcoe.

"You can usually find colors to match your spinnerbaits and jigs, but often times a completely contrasting color works wonders."

Maybe it'll work for hard water as well. Cheers!
