Anybody ever use it during soft water season when anchored instead of draining the boat battery running the onboard sonar etc?

I figured drop the transducer over the side and rest the unit on the side or wherever you are fishing. I know, tie it to the boat so it don't fall over….lol. I guess keeping the ducer level may be the challenge??

Cheers

If you are anchored, and still fishing no difference, you might get some interference from the side of your boat if the transducer isn't below the boat, maybe not?

You can buy another transducer for your boat with a bracket to fit an electric trolling motor, I put it on the front of my boat.

I've used mine over the side of my tinny for perch, but you can't slowly putt around looking for schools unless you get a skimmer transducer or figure out some way to hold it. I tried using my hand, gets cold real quick.

I use my winter setup in summer all the time.

that is the reason I use the float on a rope setup.

Toss it over, attach rope to boat and let it go. Even in waves you get a good signal.

I keep my on board to trolling and navigation.

This is a drawing of my setup, it works relly really well in summer and winter.
The float (pool noodle) slides up and down the rope for ice thickness and to get it below the boat in summer.

The rope is poked through and tied in the hole for the suction cup.
Hang it from the rope and angle the ducer to be straight down.

Well, since mine came with a summer and ice ducer, it was simple enough to go to summer ducer...that came witht he suction cup.

i just bought the bracket for perm mount and good to go.

Works quite well and i like the fact i can just unclip and take unit off boat.
