So went out to the lake yesterday for lake trout. had the worst walk out ive ever had 1-1/12ft of snow no paths and-24 feels like -35!. used navionics to set up in 38ft of water cause we couldn't walk any further! got set up portable hut, holes done heater one. my buddy sets the flasher up and it says 18ft not happy, but had to suck it up and move out further. Finally got set up 2 hours later then expected. After 30 mins the flasher starts going crazy had a good bite but set the hook to early...gone... hour later I had one chase up to 20ft then i guess it was full and disappeared. Finally near the end of the day had one commit at about 40ft and iced that one. decent 2-3lbs. ill take a pic when i go to clean it and will post if i remember. in the end i have never used a flasher and will probably not go out for lakers without one again. i understand what some of you guys keep saying about the flashers now. I believe!

Gotta have a flasher. These days, I feel like it's useless fishing whenever I don't have my Vex transducer down the hole! It's like going to work with no clothes on, it can be done, but your odds of getting the job done get lowered drastically. (unless your a porn star I guess).

Nice job on the catch... i always drill 1 hole and drop the flasher down first... I understand it is cold but nothing worst than setting up and packing up right after to move. I try my best to fish for 30 mins before huts go up.
Flasher bring a total new game for fishng lakers. It becomes a video game and the control is you rod and reel. I am addicted to lake trout fishing because of the chase.

Similar - drill hole drop in sonar. Wait minute, if not marking fish then time to drill three more hole in vicinity. Leave auger at last hole then pick up Vexilar and check the three new holes - rod in hand in event mark fish.

i will def keep that in mind next we go out. just need to buy myself one so i don't have to depend on my buddy. F4D the chase is crazy when the whole thing lights up! i couldn't keep track of which one was my lure at one point lol and question we saw a ton of flashes right at bottom one point but they didn't even come up to have a look. thinking they may have been white fish or ling. any ideas?
