With VHS shutting down the supply of minnows from lake simcoe being shipped up north by commercial minnow harvesters as of Jan 1, what will the supply and price be in the northbay area. I do believe that fishermen coming from the south can still transport their own minnows. With all this talk of a possible shortage, I'm sure that some suppliers are going to take advantage of this. I would check with your operator before you leave, and they may be able to steer you in the right direction. Let's hope that an adequate supply will be shipped up north before Jan 1.

Are we allowed to transport our own bait up to Lake Nipissing? Here is the MNR statement on this:
As a result, commercial bait operators will be prohibited from moving commercial baitfish into or out of the new Lake Simcoe Management Zone beginning January 1st 2012. Anglers are asked to buy baitfish when they arrive to fish in the Lake Simcoe area and not take baitfish out of the area.
