What do you do to scratch that itch in between hard water & open season?

I think I'll try out Bronte Pier/Lake O or The Credit River (are there sections of the Credit Open right now/when does the ice break up?) Also heard people catching things at the Whirlpool right now... but I've never had any luck there or pier fishing into Lake Ontario.

What do you do for fishing in this awkward in between time?

Short Version: Where can I go fishing right now until June & catch some fish?

I call this time no-mans land.

so hard to find something to fish for and when you do it's to cold to be warm but to warm to be cold.
it's like november...
I HATE november, nothing to fish for.

I will likely spend the next few months getting my tackle box ready for bass season and sharpening hooks.
if it's nice out i usually try for pike then go for carp and spring bows a little later.

doesn't come close to a big ole Bass smashing a top water though.

November is when I do my hawg hunting. Nothing like catching Smallies and Walleyes when they've got the feed bags on. Sure the wind gets a bit chilly, but there's nothing like catching big fish in a snow storm. My wife would disagree, but she's more of a summer person...

Once the ice is out, or mostly out, of Hamilton Harbour you can fish for some massive carp, I'm personally hoping to do some of that this year, it looks like a really good spot! Also, sometime between now and the end of May the trout should be running, not exactly sure when it starts but I believe the end of the run is late May, then June comes around and you can fish for everything again.

Once the ice is out and able to launch in the Hamilton harbor we always go in there throwing lures for drums and also try to find the perch.....

For sure! They sure are fun, we once had a 13lber take off with the rod, almost lost it but the rod was caught in time.
