Can anyone please let me know if there is still a lot of ice on Rice Lake? Headed up April 1st, wondering if I should throw in my gear. The weather looks to be holding.

Hey all - one more call out here. Coming from Michigan next week - looks like weather is still holding. Will be on the west-central side of Rice Lake, near Elmhirst's. Anyone been on the ice lately? Thanks for any info!

I never fish Rice, but I was on Scugog last Saturday which is not far away from Rice, there's a good 15 inches with some soft spots where the snow melted where the snow was really deep. It should be good with all the below average temps this month. Most of the snow has melted on the ground. Just stay away from any rivers and you should be good. Just check with the locals on Rice to make sure everything is good, because things can change really fast at this time of year.

Thank you - I do appreciate it. I have been hearing some mixed reports, obviously it is a big lake. I figured there should be 8-10 inches still next week as it is still getting cold at night. Thanks again.
